Privacy Policy

1. Data Storage — Your Device First

PocketClaw is designed with a local-first architecture. This means:

• Chat history is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database
• Memory files (MEMORY.md, SOUL.md, daily logs) are stored on your device's file system
• API keys you enter (BYOK) are stored locally and never sent to our servers
• Settings and preferences are stored locally

We do not have access to your locally stored data. If you delete the app, all local data is permanently removed.

2. Data We Send to Third Parties

When you use online AI features, your messages are sent to AI providers for processing:

• Google (Gemini) — Default for Free and Starter tiers. Google AI Terms
• Anthropic (Claude) — If you add your own key. Anthropic Privacy
• OpenAI (GPT) — If you add your own key or use voice transcription. OpenAI Privacy

When using BYOK (Bring Your Own Key), messages go directly from your device to the AI provider — they do not pass through our servers.

When using built-in credits (Free/Starter tiers), messages are routed through our backend proxy server for rate limiting. We do not store message content on our servers.

3. What We Collect

We collect:

• Anonymous usage metrics — number of queries per day (for rate limiting), no message content
• Device identifier — a random anonymous ID for rate limiting, not linked to your identity
• Crash reports — anonymous error logs to improve app stability

We do NOT collect:

• Your name, email, or personal information (unless you create an account for paid tiers)
• Message content or chat history
• Your API keys
• Photos taken with the camera feature
• Voice recordings (processed in real-time, not stored)
• Location data
• Contacts, calendar, or other phone data

4. Paid Accounts

If you subscribe to Starter or Pro tiers, we collect:

• Email address — for account management and receipts
• Payment information — processed securely by Google Play / Apple App Store. We never see your credit card details.

5. Camera and Microphone

• Camera: Used only when you tap the camera button. Photos are sent to AI for analysis and are not stored on our servers.
• Microphone: Used only when you tap the voice button. Audio is transcribed in real-time and not stored.

Both features require your explicit permission and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.

6. Local AI (Offline)

When using offline/local AI models, no data leaves your device. All processing happens on your phone's hardware. This is the most private mode of operation.

7. Task Queue

Tasks queued while offline are stored locally. When you reconnect, they are sent to AI providers for processing. Task descriptions are not stored on our servers.

8. Notifications

Reminders and notifications are scheduled locally on your device. We do not use push notification servers for reminders.

9. Data Retention

• Local data: Retained until you clear it or delete the app
• Server-side: Anonymous rate limit counters are reset every 24 hours
• Account data: Retained while your account is active. Contact us to delete.

10. Children's Privacy

PocketClaw is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
